- Marvin, a teenage ball of fur, gets the idea to paint the entire city in groovy, psychedelic colors.
- Teenager Marvin looks like a huge walking hairball. His dad is convinced Marvin's lazy, so he tells him to paint the living room (while acting very lazy himself). Marvin goes off to buy paint, giving everyone he meets a flower. Back home, the mayor's televised speech about treating the city like your house gives him an idea; as his father naps, he rounds up his friends, who agree to help. Dad awakes to find the living room painted in psychedelic patterns; he's even more shocked to discover that the outside of their entire block has been painted in similarly wild patterns. But when the mayor praises Marvin for his originality and ambition, dad comes around.—Jon Reeves <jreeves@imdb.com>
- Marvin wakes up from a groovy, psychedelic dream, featuring dancing girls who change into flowers and vice versa, when his mother's voice calls out his name. Marvin cheerfully puts on his red sweatshirt (which disappears underneath all his hair) and his blue cap with white polka dots and starts the day. His father, George, is shocked when Marvin calls him dad. That ball of fur is his son? Mother leaves the house to go to the beauty parlor and reminds George that he promised to paint the living room. He complains, but she suggests he have Marvin help him. George sends his son out to buy some paint. As Marvin walks down the street, he distributes flowers to adults who don't appreciate them. When he gets back, George tells his son what to do and then turns on the TV and takes a nap. The TV newscaster has a message from the mayor: "Treat your city as you would your home." This gives Marvin an idea. He rounds up his friends and together they paint the entire city in groovy, psychedelic colors.—J. Spurlin
