This is Poopdeck Pappy's second appearance in a cartoon (as Popeye's fairy godfather).
As Popeye enters Olive's ball, he is announced as "Cinderfella". Less than a decade later, the Jerry Lewis film Cinderfella (1960) had a similar premise.
The modern carriage given to Popeye is a state of the art 1950s stretch convertible.
Olive borrows a famous line from rival cartoon character Pepe Le Pew of Warner Brothers, "Take me to the Casbah."
Of course, Pepé le Pew is actually a parody of Pepé le Moko, the French film classic remade in Hollywood as Algiers where Charles Boyer immortalized the line, "Come with me to the Casbah."
