This Mister Magoo short doesn't get off the ground

Warning: Spoilers
This is a Mister Magoo short from the UPA Studios. There will be spoilers ahead:

This short really has only one thing going for it-the voice work by Jim Backus and Daws Butler. The story is weak, the gags are tired and it's just not terribly interesting.

Magoo thinks he's on the highway, after having pulled out of a "garage" after being treated rudely by the mechanic. He has been treated rudely, because he's driven into an airplane hangar and then driven out onto the runway. Aside from one semi-interesting gag involving the passengers on a plane, we are "treated" to standard "Magoo is nearsighted" gags, most involving Magoo mistaking planes for passing "cars".

The exchanges between the tower and the flight crew of a plane needing to make an emergency landing are the best part of the short, along with a running dialog between pilot and co-pilot toward the end of the short.

The short isn't horrible, it's just mediocre. It, along with all the other Magoo theatrical shorts and a Magoo feature film, is available in a three-disc DVD box set from Shout! Factory, which is excellent. The set's worth getting.
