Editing!
boblipton17 February 2021
Three sets of horse-drawn fire equipment and fire fighters round a corner and dash off the left side of the frame. Then another set comes from the right end of the frame. These past, people on the street follow... and we get to witness the event from another angle.

There had been editing in movie actualities before, but not that much, and not for the ones showing fire brigades rushing to the scene. In this period, movies rarely exceeded one shot held for the length of a minute or less. Yet here we are. Within a couple of years, pioneers such as James Williamson would begin to use editing to tell stories.
