Made when skin was all that mattered; minimalist porn

Warning: Spoilers
I was too young to be able to go to skin flicks like The Wild and the Naked, but through the magic of video I (like so many others) am able to sample this forbidden fruit lo these decades after. This particular fruit is spoiled.

Shot MOS, this hour-long feature has little going for it, apart from the pretty heroine playing Paulette. An inspid Pepe LePew level voice-over purporting to be Paulette talking is tough sledding, but she does hold one's attention on screen with ample topless footage.

Her non-adventures, meant to be a bit Alice in Wonderland-like but prosaic due to lack of budget, have her fleeing from a horny hermit who ties her up for some light bondage action, a guy in a gorilla suit, etc. She's saved by a cleancut hero, but he gets captured by topless native girls who dance around to a cha cha beat.

--SPOILER ALERT -- Eventually Paulette and her hero escape by motor boat, but horrors! It's all a dream as she wakes up by a pool -the lousiest ending possible.

Some of the action is so off the wall that naive viewers might call it surrealistic, the way any nonsense signed David Lynch is put on a pedestal. I call it filler. It's so lame that instead of hawking it as a double or triple feature, Something Weird merely threw it in as an "extra" buried in the small print, accompanying the DVD of Satan in High Heels.

Film was made by Chuck Martinez, who later shot a quite similar, largely MOS feature Passion in the Sun, which was put by SWV as a freebie on its Godmonster of Indian Flats DVD. I wish they had paired the two Martinez films instead -the result would have set the low sales record for any SWV/Image Entertainment twofer.
