The actor Alexandru David, who played Uncas, was mainly employed as uncredited stuntman in German & French films from 1968 - 1973 in Rumania and France until he broke both elbows in a stunt scene. After the German release of the movie, Alexandru received over 500 letters from German girls requesting his picture and autograph. Originally he was a dancer, since 12 years of age, and performed (with the Dance company Perenitca Rumaenian) folk dances all over Europe. As his brother Mihail, also a dancer, asked for asylum in Italy, Alexandru lost his job and made a living as solo jazz dancer in nightclubs. One day he met some stunt men in a nightclub in Brazow, who suggested him to become stuntman. Alexandru David has lived and worked since 1973 in Los Angeles as dance teacher for Russian folk dances and Latin American dances, but also as a construction manager.
After the German Release of "The Last Mohican", 'Alexandru David' (Uncas) received over 500 letters from German girls requesting his picture and autograph. Since western music was hard to get in Romania at that time, he asked them to send some LP records in return and soon he had, for Romanian standards, a big records collection.
Uncas ('Alexandru David') defected through the iron curtain in Romania in 1972 to the former Jugoslavia and emigrated in 1973 from France to the United States with his brother George David, where they reunited in Los Angeles with brother No. 3 Mihail David.
