The film was infamous for a major showdown Salma Agha had with Rajesh Khanna. Salma Agha heard Rajesh Khanna suggesting to Brij that she drop her duppatta . Brij responded he would not be able to ask Salma to do that. Rajesh responded "To Hum Unko Kahenge". Rajesh Khanna then walked up to Salma and made the request to drop her duppatta. Salma very politely and firmly responded it would not look good. Salma and Rajesh had a slight argument when Rajesh Khanna blew up and yelled "Log to yahan filmo ke liye nange bhi hote hain!!!!". Salma in a fit of rage responded " Kaun Nanga Hota Hain???!!". Rajesh Khanna yelled out "Sri Devi !!". Salma Agha was shocked. Infront of the entire film unit Rajesh Khanna was degrading one of his heroines. Salma told Rajesh that if Sri Devi heard this she would slap Rajesh Khanna. After this incident Rajesh stormed off the sets and so did Salma. Rajesh Khanna was cold with Salma and they did not vibe well thru out the making of the film.
The Wuthering heights insipired Oonche Log was a remake of Pakistani film Dehleez in return it was remake of Dil Diya Dard Liya. One of the last best songs sung by Kishore Kumar in this film and one the best songs Kishore Kumar sang for Rajesh Khanna. The film has one of the best music and songs by R.D.Burman and Anjaan and had best photography of Anwar Siraj. The combination of Rajesh Khanna and R.D.Burman is always excellent, even Brij took him instead of his regulars Kalyanji-Anandji.
Rajesh Khanna knew the film would flop. He knew that Salma Agha's acting would not impress the audience. Salma Agha could not emote well on screen and was very stone faced, when crying or laughing or smiling in the film.
Inspired by Wuthering Heights .
Brij Sadanah"s wife was one of the producer, the film had total of 3 producers
