for Yves Deniaud fans Warning: Spoilers
This a very fine popular comedy directed by Maurice Labro, not an exceptional director at all, but his movies are really entertaining. I just enjoyed the team Jacques Dynam-Yves Deniaud. It's a classical story of two burglars in a rich house, removing the Colonel's body played by Noël Roquevert (who has a great moment with Dora Doll in the bathroom). And don't miss the scenes with the "dentist" played by Jacques Jouanneau.

So if you appreciate Yves Deniaud like I do, jump on this one, it's really fun (without being a masterpiece).

Warning: Spoilers
A retired colonel awakens from a deep sleep caused by a painkiller. Much to his surprise, he discovers that people think he's dead. Since there are weird things going on, he decides to join in the fun by pretending he's indeed deceased...

"On déménage le colonel" is an old-fashioned black-and-white comedy without great pretensions. The plot consists of a series of errors, stratagems and coincidences that cause ever wider circles of confusion. Depending on the witnesses involved - burglars, friends, neighbors, policemen and so on - the retired colonel is alive, dead or both at the same time, like something thought up by Erwin Schrödinger. "On déménage" is the kind of comedy that owes a great debt of gratitude to the inventor of the door. Doors are opened, closed, slammed, locked, forced,.. at a rate rarely seen outside of an IKEA engineering facility.

Much of the charm of "On déménage" derives from actor Noël Roquevert (aka Noël Bénévent), who is great as the retired colonel. He is very good at suggesting an ageing man with an impish gleam in his eyes. Whether many real-life colonels appreciate a good joke is another question. Young recruits may, or may not, wish to put the matter to the test.

Beware of the episode with the dentistry student, which is sure to terrify anyone with a fear of dentists...
