Fine storytelling
lor_6 October 2022
Though the title is a stupid pun on the hit Pacino movie of the day "Scent of a Woman", this porn feature is a good example of quality screenwriting, thanks to writer Jerry Ross, who in his Adult Cinema career was that rare bird who took scripting seriously.

Story revolves around mayoral candidate Liz Smith (not the famous gossip columnist), played by Alexis DeVell in a role that would normally go to a porn superstar like Ashlyn Gere. She's running against corrupt mayor Tom Byron, and besides following the ups and downs of her campaign, Ross's screenplay carefully fleshes out and cares about all the supporting characters, too.

Initially, Liz's campaign is boosted by the tabloids featuring her big boobs prominently. Director Jim Enright, known for his hit comedies at the time, delays showing us those fabulous Double D's, using anticipation throughout the movie skilfully. We also get to see the doings of her pair of lovely house maids: Lacey Rose who successfully cultivates a romance with the gardener (played by a young Steven St. Croix) and Serenity, soon to become a superstar, taking center stage here twice as she masturbates in the bathtub.

Liz's campaign adviser Jonathan Morgan is the lucky guy who gets her in the sack for the movie's happy ending, while her campaign staff includes famed director Skye Blue, a lesbian who seduces her busty co-worker Tracy West. Meanwhile, opponent Byron has sex with his lovely assistant Brittany O'Connell, and Liz's old flame Joey Silvera pops up and renews their romance of old.

Constantly upbeat, this is Couples Porn with a capital C, hardly groundbreaking but indicative of how porn movies are unfairly accused of always being stupid, or perversely criticized for including any NonSex material.
