B Side of 'Hidden Obsessions'
lor_31 August 2022
After viewing Fred Lincoln's obscure feature "Notorious" for the first time just now, 30 years after release, I wondered about it -a strange little movie. IMDb was quite helpful: the cast of this movie is entirely contained within the cast of Andrew Blake's all-time classic "Hidden Obsessions", with the exception of a NonSex role for Mal O'Ree, playing a cop.

Connection turns out to be Patti Rhodes -Lincoln's wife who wrote and produced the feature, as well as being the production manager on the A+-picture by Blake. So apparently she just kept a core of cast members and spun off this unrelated little crime movie. Both of these movies introduced fetish specialist Skye Blue to the movies.

Skye stars as the leader of a seemingly feminist gang of women who "liberate" abused ladies from their dominating males husbands and provide them with a safe haven until the divorce comes through.

This novel premise hooked me immediately, but auteur Patti has some tricks up her sleeve, and in a busy climax (before the final sex scene) turns the story on its head -far from feminist.

Opening scene shares kinkiness with many a Bizarre Video release made by Skye. (This is the original Skye Blue, not the currently popular short-haired starlet who has stolen her stage name). Blue shows up to rescue Tracy West from her mean husband Frank (an uncredited actor) and they tie him up and make him watch their hot lesbian sex.

Marc Wallice is a reporter working on this mysterious case of missing women whose husbands tell tall tales of their wives being abducted by women. His lady Heather Hart decides to infiltrate the gang by contacting them for help, and succeeds, to the point where she is involved in an impressive 5-girl orgy led by Skye, celebrating the one-year anniversary of her crusade.

Working with Skye is her girlfriend Celeste, who briefly goes back to her boyfriend (inevitably Woody Long, her screen and real-life teammate), who happens to be a cop. Looks like Skye's in trouble!

It's a trifle of a video, made significant by its outstanding femme cast. Of special interest is that all the ladies have big boobs, but not the extremely artificial bigness Celeste, Domonique Simone and Skye Blue opted for soon after to enhance their careers. Fans of "Hidden Obsessions" (of which their are many) should watch it and do a double-take.
