In this Van Beuren cartoon I just discovered on Uncle John's Crazy Town site, various animals are singing "Let a Smile Be Your Umbrella" before we go to a couple of cats-one male, one female-looking for the gold pot at the end of the rainbow. This leads them to a bizarre trip to a castle. But it all ends happily...This is one of those '30s musical cartoons that keep trying to cheer the audience up since this was made during the Great Depression. Quite entertaining, even today especially for any animation buffs who love seeking these vintage stuff, like me. By the way, the female singing voice at the end sounds a lot like Betty Boop. Is it possible that character's voice is the same as the one doing it here? I'm talking of course about the one and only Mae Questel. Since both Van Beuren and Max Fleischer studios were both based in New York, it seems very possible that the singing voice in this cartoon is indeed her. So on that note, The Wild Goose Chase is worth a look.
