An excellent British thriller

`The Long Way Home'? concerned a group of escapees from a German POW camp who tried to get back to England. The story was gripping because one of the escapees was a German spy. It had particularly compelling music (title and incidental), which I would love to hear again. This was an early childhood memory for me (back in 1960) and was a series full of suspense and action. Terrific!

I remember this as cracking kids tv but why can't it be shown again today?

I tried never to miss this - Barry Letts was quite a hero, and Cargill and an almost 'slitty-eyed' Harvey Hall were wonderfully hissable. Seeing the details again in IMDB make me wish tv channels would repeat some of the great series from decades ago instead the constant repeats we have to endure today.
