Walter the Mouse's preference to be referred to as "Walt" references Walt Disney and when he pulls his ears, his head partially turns into Mickey Mouse's head to whom he also indirectly refers while talking to Dot and Santa.
In the scene where Dot, Santa, Dozeyface and Grumblebones settle in the bears' shack in Siberia and start testing the porridge, beds and furniture references "Goldilocks and the Three Bears."
Ashley Ayre reprised the live-action role of Dot in "Dot and Keeto".
Dot is revealed to have a brother named Ben in this film. However, she later has a different one named Simon in "Dot and Keeto."
Dot and Santa Claus (1981) was made available under public domain on DVD by DigiView Home Entertainment in 2006. It has not seen daylight on any home media nor is it available on the online stores in the United States after said release.
