Umesh Mehra imported a Russian bear named Misha from Russia. Misha stayed in India for 1 year. After the shooting was over, Misha was to be deported back to Russia. Being a circus bear , she could not return to her earlier life. Bears have short memories and would have to be retaught her tricks everyday . Since she was old it would not be worth the time and investment. She would have to be put to sleep. When Mithun Chakraborthy heard this , he was enraged because he is a animal lover. He decided to keep the bear for himself. The bear will have to be sent back to Tashkent before being re imported back to India.
While Mithun was a certified rage in Russia this film would flop and any future of Russian association with Hindi cinema ended. While Hindi films were huge within Russia in the 1980s by the late 80s Russian mobs flooded their streets with the latest vhs copies of Hollywood films. By the early 90s there was limited interest in Hindi cinema in Russia due to this.
After Alibaba Aur 40 Chor (198)) Sohni Mahiwal (1984) and Shikari (1991) fhis was the third and last Indian-Soviet co-production.
The producers wanted to sign either Amjad Khan or Shammi Kapoor for the film. It was Gulshan Grover who convinced them he would wear a fat man's get up and give them the same results. That was how he was signed.
Vinod Mehra voice was dubbed in the film by a dubbing artiste.
