At the end of the movie, the statehood congregation parades through town with flags containing 50 stars. The proper flag for the period would have been the 43 star flag.
At the end of the movie, Myrl is hanged using the Julian gallows and the state was celebrating Statehood. Wyoming was admitted to the United States on 10 July 1890. The gallows used to hang Mryl was invented by Cheyenne architect, James P. Julian in 1892, two years after statehood.
The same flag, with 50 stars, is waved by towns women when the Governor is having his photo taken in Cheyene with the women.
