A look at a light-hearted Canadian short
cthulhu-2531 December 2000
Filmed on location in Hubbards. Nova Scotia, "Eb and Flo" is a light-hearted short containing elements of both comedy and drama. Following an eventful night in the lives of an old woman and her husband, the film showcases the talents of several fine Canadian actors. The elderly title characters are portrayed by Joseph Rutton and Joan Gregson, both of whom adeptly slip into their characters, making them eerily familiar. Nicole McLean's portrayal of a Toronto punk stuck in the sticks is an admirable one, as is that of her younger brother, played by Blair Slater. Ending on a touching note, Eb and Flo easily captures the spirit of the Maritimes, blending the strong, familial qualities of Maritimers with their inherent morality and love of life.
