From 1948-1956, the team of Wally Vernon and Eddie Quillan made a series of two-reel comedies for Columbia Pictures. Moviegoers have considered this series to be the most violent because of its heavy-handed slapstick. Vernon previously appeared in a Glove Slingers short, Fresh as a Freshman, so that probably made him a veteran of the studio's shorts department.
