Ioncinema.com’s Ioncinephile of the Month feature focuses on an emerging filmmaker from the world of cinema. This September, we put the spotlight on the writer-director of The Skeleton Twins. After exploring the thirtysomething slackerhood with the 2009 SXSW Film Festival preemed True Adolescents, Craig Johnson’s sophomore feature visits a paralleled (re)union of sibling spirits where the pursuit of happiness is challenged by the skeletal remains of what was left in one’s past. An examination of the sometimes vacuous, sometimes endearingly noir phases that the psyche tends to visit, the Sundance U.S. Dramatic Competition Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award winning film mowed down Park City auds with the versatile Kristin Wiig and Bill Hader proving that comedy and drama do mix.
Johnson’s delicate empathetic portrait of the misfits carries some vintage moments, and was instantly picked up by Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions for distribution and is landing in theatres September 12th.

Exiting A month ago, director Marc Webb revealed that he would be returning to helm the third movie in Sony's rebooted Spider-Man franchise, which came as a surprise to many considering he very nearly backed out of directing The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Apparently, Webb draws the line at a trilogy, however, as he revealed to TheDailyBeast that he's vacating the director's chair after the threequel, despite the fact that a fourth movie is already in early stages of development.
"I’d like to be involved as a consultant, and I’ve already talked to these guys about it, but in terms of directing it, that will close out my tenure. I’ve had so much fun doing it, but after the third movie, it’ll be the time to find something else."

Hackney-born actor in final talks over role in Jon Favreau's live-action/CGI take on Rudyard Kipling's 1894 fable
Idris Elba is in final talks to provide the gruff yet mellifluous tones of the tiger Shere Khan in Disney's remake of classic animation The Jungle Book, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Iron Man director Jon Favreau's live-action/CGI take on Rudyard Kipling's 1894 fable is one of two competing versions proposed by Hollywood. Rival studio Warner Bros has tapped Oscar-winner Ron Howard to direct a separate project based on a screenplay by Harry Potter stalwart Steve Kloves.
Disney is also said to be looking for a mixed-race actor to play Mowgli, the boy raised by wolves in the jungles of central India. The studio will focus on the Kipling story Mowgli's Brothers. Other fables by the writer, such as the story of heroic mongoose Rikki-Tikki-Tavi and the tale of elephant handler Toomai,...

Studio to return Rudyard Kipling's tale to big screen – at same time as Warner Bros plans rival adaptation
Disney is planning a live-action take on The Jungle Book, Rudyard Kipling's iconic collection of fables that inspired the classic animation of the same name.
The project is the second film based on Kipling's 1894 collection – which is out of copyright – to be announced. Rival studio Warner Bros is also planning a version, with Harry Potter's Steve Kloves working on the screenplay.
Variety reports that Disney's version will once again centre on the "mancub" Mowgli, who is raised by wolves in the Indian jungle. His friends include a bear, Baloo, and a panther, Bagheera, while the vicious tiger Shere Khan is among his enemies. Mowgli's story was just one of a number of morally toned fables in Kipling's tome, but Disney will overlook other chapters such as the story of heroic...
