Laurens Jan buys an antique vase cheaply, then has it auctioned so he can buy a first edition children's book. But Bertus and Lex insist that the money goes to the original owner, Bertus old school teacher.
Lex, Bertus and Sjaan are off to celebrate Carnaval, but nobody wants to drive back, so they take Laurens Jan along, even though he has an important case the next morning (and no driving license).
Punneke, the 15 year old daughter of one of Lex's many ex-girlfriends wants to stay with Lex. When Luus objects to her pet rat, she tries her luck with Bertus.
Bertus and Sjaan bet each other that they can sell their ware faster than the other. He tries to sell Lex and Laurens Jan new desks, she offers them time clocks for their office.
Sjaan assumes a fur coat to be a present for her 12 and a half years wedding anniversary. Bertus for his part has no idea what the upcoming celebration is all about. Luus has put forward Laurens Jan to be the new chairman of a committee against animal cruelty.
When a record Bertus recorded in his youth as 'Bert and the Bees' turns up on the radio and a compilation album, Bertus first wants to sue, and then wants to get the band back together.
Bertus is installing an alarm and gets some help from old crook Harrie van de Bor. The next morning there are signs that somebody visited the office in the middle of the night without the alarm going off.
Lex and Laurens Jan have a falling out and decide to go their separate ways. Laurens Jan keeps the law offices upstairs, while Lex moves into Bertus small office downstairs. Sjaan also has her eye on the small office, for her new job as telephone saleswoman.
Bertus has hired a camera - complete with cameraman to shoot advertisements disguised as a documentary. Laurens Jan is invited to appear on the 'Ver van mijn bed Show'.
Luus and Bertus feel depressed after Sjaan puts them on an 'Astronauts' diet. Laurens Jan has secretly entered Luus in a Secretary of the year contest.
