Damn, even then things in Greece were messy (and some history lessons).

Warning: Spoilers
In Greek the title is called "There is also pride" and it is part of the Golden Age of the Greek Cinema the period between the nineteen fifties up to the late sixties, when the censorship of the military junta here from 1967 to 1974 and from there the cinema business started to decline and in the eighties it more or less became shadow of its former self. So that is the historical back ground of the film.

To the plot ,the minister Andreas Mavroyialouros during a visit at his home administrative division for the openings of the new hospital in area ,he stumbles on a village near by and there he realizes that his programs that were to modernize the area went nowhere due to the corruption in the middle management, which grow rich from its manipulations on the project. At the end of the film Mavroyialouros ask his Representative here Mr Grouezas "Sorry but what are you doing for living?" and he relies "I am in the party since I was twenty". In case you aren't from Greece I will explain it to you, he (and many like him) used the money of the projects in order to make his fortune.

What amazes me is that, this way of living continued up to the Crisis of 2008 (here started in 2010). Which means that the issues that have become a stable of news about my country were ,the way of that the system worked even in the beginning!!!

As for the rest of the elements of the film ,like acting, comedic moments and quotes top notch!!

It is a must watch for every man and woman that admire good comedy and wat to see how were the things in my small country at the height of Cold War!!

Great performances and great direction

It's always a pleasure to watch this movie... Everything is so well done! The acting is superb by everyone, especially by Konstadaras and Papayannopoulos... I've looked so hard to find mistakes, hints that those people are actually acting and not talking to each other as they would in real life, but I haven't found anything... It's really amazing, and at the same time a little depressing that such movies don't get made nowadays... The plot is very clever, it makes you laugh and at the same time it makes you think about politics, politicians and corruption... Such a delicate subject "served" in such a clever way...

Amazing is all that comes to mind when I think of this film... Too bad that Greek films are not so popular abroad...
