Was OK... but not great

In the 70s, Hanna Barbera had to reinvent and put on new shows. However, if we remember Mumbly, it was more or less good, depending on the episodes.

Mumbly is a dog which does his best to solve crimes. As Mumbly resembles a bit like Columbo, his chief detective has rather a Kojak attitude (looks like him too !) and sometimes wants to have credit over cases that Mumbly solves all the way. But hey, the dog s not so stupid and gets the credit where it s due.

Saw it mostly in French. Francis Lax did the dubbing on the chief officer (the series was dubbed in Paris). However, despite Don Messick s excellent dog laugh (same as Mutterly), in french, it was not all that good...

Plots were not great, a rehash of what Hanna Barbera did better way past. And Mumbly was such a bore sometimes, wondering if he can let the job to a similar laughing canine like Mutterly...

To see if you have time to kill, however, series not the greatest from Hanna-Barbera... and Mumbly was better in Laff A Lympics...
