Agnaldo Rayol, who would become a very successful singer in Brazil (and still active), makes his debut, at the age of 11, in the role of the boy Heitor.
There are two scenes filmed on the terrace of the Igreja da Glória, which sits on a hill called "Outeiro da Glória". In the first of these, at the end of a mass, brothers Renato and Miro talk and, in the background, one can see the buildings of the city center, the current Marina da Glória (a large anchorage of boats) and, in the counterplan, the Corcovado, with the famous statue of Christ the Redeemer (although it is quite difficult to see it in the film, due to the poor image quality of the remaining copy). The other scene is the last one, and the film closes with Marta (Vera Nunes) going down one of the stairs from the church.
Although Companhia Atlântica Cinematográfica is best remembered for "chanchadas" (musical comedies of popular appeal), it produced in its early years (1941-1949) several social dramas, touching on themes such as racism. Most of these films were lost forever in a fire in 1952, which destroyed the existing negatives. "Também Somos Irmãos" is one of the few serious films from Atlantis to survive.
This is the first screen appearance of Jece Valadão, in the small role of a waiter.
The outstanding theatrical actor Aguinaldo Camargo was chosen for the role of Renato, then one of the exponents of the company "Teatro Experimental Negro", founded in 1944, in Rio de Janeiro. Aguinaldo's life was very similar to that of the character Renato, since he also had a law degree (as Renato conquers at the beginning of the film). Unfortunately, Aguinaldo had his career and life abbreviated, when he was run over in 1952 by a "lotação" (a small bus).
