Corpse Killer is a full-motion-video (FMV) shoot-'em up. Well I'm a big fan of full-motion video games, like Double Switch or Ground Zero Texas. So when it came to sitting down with Corpse Killer, naturally I knew i was going to like it. There is plenty of full-motion video footage in this game, so if you like campy, bad B-movies, you are half way to liking this game. Unfortunately, you also have to be the type of person who likes shooters of the Virtually mindless variety in order to get the last half of the way there.

Many people might not like this game because of the limited game play and just shooting things on screen. So i don't know what these people are expecting, this is an interactive game that uses your participation, that's what it is. But any way i thought that Corpse Killer gives you a good dose of "multi-media" without ruining the game play, and it's exciting when zombies are flying at you from every direction, So I found myself strangely drawn into the world of gunning down zombies.

I have played the Sega CD, Sega 32x CD, Panasonic 3DO and Sega Saturn versions and have completed the game numerous times and still enjoy the game even now. But the best versions are on the 3DO and Sega Saturn cause the video quality is better and also the Saturn version has a few different features, including extra power-ups and additional enemy footage.

The game plays out like a B- horror zombie film with rail gun shooting randomly put in, So If you like killing zombies, cheesy old B movies, cheesy acting, and real actors in your game, Corpse Killer is a game you just can't pass up!

Conclusion - If you enjoy FMV type games, then be sure to add this to your collection!

Zombie Foo-Pah!

Corpse Killer was one of the many cheesy FMV games of it's day and if you've never played it chances are you won't now. Digital Pictures, the company that made it is now defunct. As are the original video game systems it was released for (3DO, Sega CD, 32X). If you had the chance to play it's likely you sit in one of two camps. Either you hated it or you grooved to it's story reminiscent of a b-grade movie in a guilty pleasure sort of way.

I admit to having a soft spot for FMV games back in their day and Corpse Killer is amongst my collection with it's hokey zombie story that actually makes the game work ... barely. Like all FMV-fests, the interest lies in the video and Corpse Killer has some good stuff in that regard just beware the pretty monotonous gameplay segments.

Character actor Vincent Schiavelli headlines as the crazy villain of the game Dr. Hellman. Who is playing it just right or way over the top depending how you look at it and in any case is just great. Kudos go out to Jeremiah Birkett in the tongue-in-cheek cliché role of the Jamaican sidekick too. Much like elements of the story, he presents just enough seriousness to counterbalance the whole thing from becoming too silly for it's own good.

On the technical side of things, the actual gameplay segments are composed of filmed miniature sets for the background scenery and "green screen" zombies for the enemies. They are merely passable and it doesn't help that there isn't more variety to them. Repeatedly shooting zombies can only be fun for so long and one hour into this game you've seen everything you're going to see on the gameplay front. So why you'd want to play 'Corpse Killer' should be obvious by now. Tune in for the FMV. Suffer through the rest.

This is a bad game. I am from Brasil and it is difficult for us to retrieve video games for Sega cd. It's not fun and the movie part is awful. I think you should pay for -Ground Zero Texas-. It is much more for entertainment. >
