Director Mike Tristano described the film as "the female version of The Crow (1994) but transplanted into a retro-style, action, sci-fi film."
Linda Kim, who plays China, told Femme Fatales magazine that she struggled a bit before accepting the role when she learned her character was a lesbian. Kim has no issue with sexual content or nudity, but doing a lesbian scene was difficult for her. She joked that fortunately, she only had "one big mouth-to-mouth kiss and it was like kissing a cabinet." She pointed out it had nothing to do with co-star Playboy model Angie Diamond being a good or bad kisser. Diamond said it was weird doing a love scene with a woman. She and Kim were both very nervous. They tried pretending to kiss, but the director said it needed to be real. Then they had to film it several times until he was satisfied.
Angie Diamond's debut and first film nudity. Even though she'd posed nude several times for Playboy, she said in an interview that she doesn't think it's necessary to do nudity in films and she'd rather not do it. But she agreed to be nude for this because she needed a foot into the industry.
