Although the series was made on colour videotape, only "Things That Go Bang in the Night" and "Red Admiral" still survive in that format (though the latter has a small amount of missing footage which has been plugged with b/w film footage); the remainder exist as monochrome film prints.
The recording order for the series was: "Spyder Secures a Main Strand", "Red Admiral", "The Prevalence of Skeletons", "Romance on Wheels", "Things That Go Bang In The Night", "Nobody's Strawberry Fool", "The Executioners", "Life at a Price", "The Hafiz Affair", "Emergency Exit", "Rev Counter", "Lies and Dolls" and "An Almost Modern Man".
Patricia Cutts secured the lead role of Charlotte Dean after guesting in Transatlantic Cousins (1971) for series producer/director Dennis Vance.
Filming began on Wednesday July 7th 1971, a few weeks before Patricia Cutts's 45th birthday on the 20th.
