A low budget martial arts comedy typical of the year and genre and nothing more

I have this as a 1980 movie with the title "A Wily Match" with Lung Fong, Cheng Fu-Hung, Sun Jung-Chi, Gam Dai, Chan Wai-Lau and Mo Man- Su.

Lung Fong cuts in on a martial arts class, unpaid and uninvited. He defeats them all because none can really fight. Cut to four guys fight out in the weeds for something or another. Cut again to the big man, Cheng Fu-Hung, as the dumb and tough son of the versatile actor Chan Wai-Lau. Father has a hard time keeping a practice partner for the big, tough, but dumb son. Lung Fong falls into the job through a series of comedic circumstances.

Our hero's life is further complicated by winning a bride from a martial arts contest. He rejects her because her feet were bound and he detests the custom though other men are certainly attracted to this unusual form of "beauty". Mo Man-Su had a small role in Jackie Chan's "Spiritual Kung Fu" and does some fights in this movie.

My copy is a digital file from an Ocean Shores VHS. It is English dubbed and the voice actors did a competent job. The video is not wide screen but the picture quality is as good as it gets for a VHS to digital file.

Comedy is difficult to rate in these type of movies. What is funny or not funny is really what you prefer in your tea cup. I liked it, never touched the fast forward button and consider it just a sliver above average for the year and genre.

Wacky Cartoonish Kung Fu Action!

Warning: Spoilers
OK. How to explain this one....well the word wacky comes to mind. For most of the movie we have two guys as the good guys, one of whom is a giant of a man! Then there's the chick with the small/bound feet that gets kidnapped.... the lone Japanese guy who gets stripped to his undies.... and that other dude who gets hit so hard he spins around real fast. So fast in fact, that his HEAD GETS TWISTED AROUND! thats right. Twisted. Around. You see the mans back and his face at the SAME TIME! And no I am not making that up either. The ending is also really cool. This is one of those movies that quite literally "have to be seen to be believed".

Bought the movie on recently as part of an 8 pack of movies called WU Tang 8 Diagram collection. It's Highly recommended because it also has a good looking (and subbed to boot!) copy of 8 diagram pole fighter. Also saw the movie Kung Fu Genius (which is another one of the 8 movies) that was also excellent.

Highly Recommended.
