"La millième fenêtre " is the great thespian's next-to-last movie. It's not as famous as "les Vieux de la Vieille" which also featured Gabin and Noel-Noel .

Armand is an old man whose expropriation is impending. They is a public housing project all around. But Armand does not want to leave his old house and he even accommodates a Pole student ,Ania ,who falls in love with... well you 've guessed it,the young architect of the building company (Jean-Louis Trintignant).

This is Capraesque melodrama and full of finer feelings. What's interesting is that the female star (Barbara Kwiatkowska soon to become Barbara Lass in Clément's "Quelle joie de vivre" ,because of her impossible-sounding name) was Roman Polanski's then- partner and they came to France together where the famous director would direct the "Rivière de diamant" segment in "les PLus Belles Escroqueries du Monde" (1963).
