This documentary follows President Lyndon Johnson for a week in July, 1965. He is shown at his ranch in Texas and meeting with his cabinet and foreign dignitaries at the White House. A crisis develops over the deteriorating situation in Vietnam: a decision must be made whether to declare a national emergency and jump in with both feet or increase American involvement gradually. (As we all know, the President took the latter course.) The documentary also attempts to describe the President's leadership style both in reality and in the public perception.
