The scotch bottle used in the driving test sketch is from Haig & Haig Pinch Scotch.
The narrator states keeping oily rags in a coffee can will protect against spontaneous combustion, adding "Who's got coffee anyway?" This is an allusion to war-time rationing of coffee that began on November 29, 1942; families were limited to one pound of coffee every five weeks. The rationing wasn't due to a supply issue (plenty of coffee was available from South America) but rather a lack of means of shipment of a "luxury" as well as the danger of U-boats.
