Before the holiday season slips away from us, one more Christmas question: What’s your favorite Christmas music album? Mine is, hands down, no question, John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together [Amazon U.S.] [Amazon Canada] [Amazon U.K.]. I’ve only seen the TV special that spawned it a few times, and not since I was a kid, because it’s not available on DVD. But I listen to the album constantly during the holidays (and sometimes in the off-season, too), because it is crammed with not only the usual Muppet madness -- Miss Piggy directing a rendition of “Christmas Is Coming” is outright chaos -- but also some of the loveliest nontraditional holiday songs I’ve ever heard: “A Baby Just Like You” never fails to make me cry. You? (If you have a suggestion for a Qotd, feel free to email me. Responses to this Qotd sent by email will be ignored; please post your responses here.

"Bless Us All," Muppet Christmas Carol Anything with Robin gets bonus points. "Christmas Is Coming," John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together Maracas! "Need a Little Christmas," A Muppet Family Christmas Watch out for the icy patch. "When the River Meets the Sea,...

What my followers on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ saw today: • You might as well just go ahead and download that lovely Neil Finn Hobbit tune, “Song of the Lonely Mountain,” now. You’re gonna want to anyway. Amazon U.S. | Amazon U.K. • What use is GetGlue is if doesn't have John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together (the best Christmas album ever)? • Beautiful followup to something I posted yesterday. Today Ellen Barkin won the Internet. • Not quite sure how to take this. On the one hand, the BBFC has the power to outright ban movies from being shown in the UK (which is a power the MPAA does not have; movies can be released unrated in the Us, which cannot happen in the UK). Censorship is never good. On the other hand, someone is thinking seriously about the impact of sadistic violence on impressionable minds. On the third hand,...
