Madonna fell madly in love with husband Guy Ritchie the moment she glimpsed his muscle-bound body. The Like A Virgin hitmaker has been married to the film director for almost five years, and admits they owe their passion to his sporty physique. But their relationship isn't based solely on sexual attraction - Ritchie makes her laugh too. She gushes, "I saw him with his shirt off playing tennis and that was a big plus. Then I sat next to him at a lunch and he was incredibly witty and that was another plus. I think a sense of humor is important. And finally, I saw his first movie (Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels) and I thought, 'God, he's incredibly talented.'"...

Madonna has slammed celebrity socialite Paris Hilton for using Kabbalah as a fashion accessory. The Like A Virgin singer is a dedicated follower of the mystical offshoot of Judaism, along with her film director husband Guy Ritchie, and she insists it takes more to be a "believer" than simply wearing a trendy Kabbalah wristband. Madonna tells website The Scoop, "People like Paris Hilton come into a centre and buy a book or a band and that's it for them. It doesn't mean they study it. It's very hard to be a believer. I'm very serious about it."...

Pop superstar Madonna has provoked fierce criticism from Jewish leaders after dedicating a song on her new album to a 16th century Kabbalist rabbi. The controversial track "Isaac" draws on the life of Yitzhak Luria, a Jewish mystic, but rabbis are suspicious the Material Girl singer may be exploiting his name for profit. Madonna, who is Kabbalah follower herself, is no stranger to religious contention. Her 1984 single Like A Virgin sparked uproar amongst Christians after the raunchy music video featured a black Jesus Christ character. And Jewish elders are similarly unimpressed by her latest musical tribute, suggesting it could even prompt divine retribution. Rabbi Rafael Cohen, head of a seminary named after Luria, says, "Jewish law forbids the use of the name of the holy rabbi for profit. Her act is just simply unacceptable and I can only sympathize for her because of the punishment that she is going to receive from the heavens."...

Bosses at France's Cannes Film Festival offered Madonna a place on their panel of judges - but she snubbed their invitation because it clashes with her beloved Kabbalah meetings. The Like A Virgin beauty, who had her documentary rejected for inclusion, disappointed Cannes chief Thierry Fremaux when she insisted she would have to travel back to London twice during the event to fulfill her obligations to the mystical form of Judaism. Fremaux was keen to have the star involved as she "takes the cinema world seriously" and would have added a welcome injection of glamour to the panel. Fremaux says, "We talked about her being on the jury, but her religion meant this could not happen. It is a regret because she has valuable knowledge. She would have to return to London every Saturday, or maybe it was every Friday, so for two days during our festival she would not be here and that could not work."...
