- Some fairly mild sex references.
- This game makes me think of Shrek, where there's a few mild sexual references that all go over the kids' heads.
- Tifa wears a short skirt and a short shirt that exposes her stomach. Also the outline of Tifas breast being covered by her shirt can be seen as she is fighting monsters.
- There are people in the game that can be seen using the toilet in the bathroom in Wall Market and Rocket Town even though it doesn't show them using the restroom.
- Yuffie wears shorts and a short shirt that exposes her stomach.
- At the Honeybee Inn, there are women dressed in bikini costumes showing off their stomachs.
- The red summon user named Shiva can be seen in her revealing bikini outfit.
- In the coastal town of Costa Del Sol, the women can be seen wearing bikini swimsuits. One of the men at the bar mentions that you can walk around naked in Costa Del Sol and nobody would notice.
- In the mini game Mog house, if the player helps a mouse-like creature impress his girlfriend. They will both mate and have moogle children.
- In the Chocobo breeding sidequest, If Cloud finds the male and female Chocobo, then they will mate and produce an egg and the Chocobo will quickly grow up.
- In the Battle Arena a woman receptionist mentions to Cloud about a man and woman eloping away together.
- On the Highwind Airship at the Northern Crater a picture of Lady Luck can be seen in a very revealing bikini swimsuit showing the side of her leg and showing her stomach.
Violence & Gore

- When the man in Rocket town tries to tell a funny joke to Cid, Cid gets angry and kicks him back.
- Violence is frequent, but never sadistic and barely detailed or realistic.
- There is some occasional sight of gore. In one part of the game, you follow a trail of blood at Shinra Headquarters. In another part, you see a huge serpent-like creature impaled on a large pike, with the end protruding from its throat and there is a lot of blood. Also on the Junon ship there are dead bodies with blood trailing. Also at the Gold Saucer in the Battle Arena there are dead guards with blood on the ground who have been shot by a machine gun.
- Giant robots can be seen exploding in Midgar after defeating them.
- In the turn based random battles the characters use weapons, Cloud stabs monsters with his sword, Barret shoots at monsters with his gun arm, Tifa punches with her fists, Aeris uses her staff, Cid attacks with his spear, Yuffie attacks with her boomerang, Vincent shoots at monsters with his gun, Cait Sith attacks with his fists, Red XIII pounces and claws at monsters, also magic spells, enemy skills and summon magic can be used to kill monsters including poison and death spells.
- In one part, there is a closeup of a character being stabbed; we see the sword go through their back and come out their stomach but there is no sight of blood or injury.
- In the opening of Final Fantasy 7, the Terrorist group called Avalanche can be seen beating up the train guards.
- After the Mako sector 5 reactor blows up. Cloud, Barret, Biggs, Wedge, Jessie escape the exploding fire.
- Shinra Soldiers can be seen shooting their machine gun at Cloud right before he jumps on the Train.
- Barret can be seen punching one of his buddies at the 7th Heaven hideout gym. Also on the train Barret threatens to beat up one of the passengers on the train.
- As Aeris tries to escape up the stairs she gets shot at but falls down. Also Cloud has the option of dropping barrels on the Shinra Guards.
- In Wall Market at the gym, if Cloud beats the wrestler at squats, then the wrestler will get angry and get punched by a female.
- Aeris can be seen getting her face slapped by Reno the Turk on the helicopter.
- Red XIII can be seen pouncing on Hojo after escaping from the experiment tube cage.
- In the mini game of G Bike motorcycle game. Cloud rides a motorcycle on the Midgar freeway protecting the truck and attacking soldiers on motorcycles causing them to crash.
- Sephiroth can be seen killing Nibelheim villagers with his sword.
- Tifa gets stabbed by Sephiroths sword at the Nibelheim reactor.
- At the entrance of Mythril Mine, a scene with the giant snakes head can be seen stabbed by a sword.
- Red XIIIs father is seen shot by poisoned arrows and turned to stone at the Canyon.
- At Fort Condor, in the mini game you can set up the solders to defend the fort by attack the enemies of Shinra and once either the blue team or red team members get killed, they disappear.
- Heidegger can be seen beating up his workers after getting angry with not finding Clouds team.
- In the flashback at Mt. Corel, the old man gets shot in the back by Shinra Soldiers and dies, also Barrett and Dyne are both attacked by the machine guns by the Shinra soldiers. As Barrett tries to save Dyne, their arms both get shot and Dyne falls down the cliff and they both lose the use of their one arm.
- Barrett gets punched by a town citizen in North Corel.
- A hologram game 3D Battler at Gold Saucer has Cloud punching his enemy in the face or stomach.
- If Cloud runs on the slippery floor in the cave of gi, then the spikes will come out of the wall and stab Cloud and cause him and his team to lose HPs.
- A cut scene with Cloud and Cid escape on the Tiny Bronco airplane which gets shot down by Shinra Soldiers.
- During the date with Aeris or Tifa in the Event show. If Cloud chooses the Knight as evil, Aeris or Tifa will get mad and slap Clouds face.
- Tseng is seen getting stabbed by Sephiroths sword at the Temple of the Ancients, later on he's wounded and dies after talking to Cloud.
- If Cloud doesn't dodge Elenas fist at Icicle Inn, then he will get punched in the face and knocked out.
- In the archive video at the Icicle Inn, Hojo kills Professor and kidnaps Aeris and her mother.
- The Weapon monster attacks Junon Town. But Junon Town goes into armored mode and shoots bullets and fires missiles at the monster. But the Monster causes a hole in the gas chamber room where Tifa is being executed at.
- Zack can be seen getting wounded by Sephiroths sword but he later survives.
- Cloud has a sword duel with Sephiroth getting stabbed by his sword and kills the real Sephiroths body at Nibelheim reactor.
- A submarine game called Torpedo Attack has Cloud controlling the submarine and firing torpedoes at the enemy subs and sinking them to the bottom of the ocean.
- In Vincent Valentines cutscene. Vincent is seen getting shot at by Hojo, however he survives.
- If Cloud kills Ultima Weapon at Cosmo Canyon then Ultima Weapon will fall down to his death and create a big crater.
- If Cloud fights Ruby Weapon or Emerald weapon. They will fight Cloud and his team real hard and try to kill them even worse than the final battle with Safer Sephiroth.
Profanity

- Tifa calls Barrett a "retard" at one point.
- If you're playing on the consoles it was originally released on, then you're going to see all of the profanity mentioned above. But if you're playing it on any newer consoles then a lot of it has been bleeped out after some controversy.
- Note: all of the dialogue in this game is written in text displayed on the screen; there are no recorded voices.
- Some uses of relatively mild-moderate to strong swearing, including uses of 'damn', 'hell', 'dammit', 'Jackass', 'Ass', 'dumbass', 'fart', 'shit', 'piss', 'crap', 'Jesus', 'Goddamn', and 'Goddammit'.
- Swearing Symbols like this symbol @#$%! is often used in both the Playstation 1 and PC version by Barrett Wallace, Cid Highwind, and the townspeople. And also later on in the PC version by Clould and Tifa.
- On of the monsters is named "Hell house", and the weapon it uses is called "Hell bomber" and "Hell press", another monster is called "Hell Rider" also Ifrit uses his summon power called "Hellfire" also a boss at Midgar is named Helletic Hojo. Also one of the monsters uses a weapon called "Hell Bubbles"
- One of Vincents limit break monster form is called Hellmasker.
- The word "Wench" used by Tifa in the Playstation 1 version has been censored out with swearing symbols.
- In the aftermath of Sector 7 collapsing by the playground. Barret gets angry and swears at Cloud and Tifa and uses words like Goddamn and Goddammit.
- As Cid and his crew get ready to launch the Rocket into space he swears at Shera for being in danger and uses the word "Goddamn" and "Goddammit" at Shera and aborts the launch and he has been angry at her since then.
- In the 1998 PC version of Final Fantasy 7 the work "Shit" used by Barrett and Cid and Cloud has been censored out with swearing symbols. However one "Shit" word was missed if Cid examines the light twice at the ancient city and still uses the word "Shit" that was used in the uncensored Playstation 1 version.
- There are implied uses of other strong swear words and possibly other words unacceptable at the game's age rating, which show up as jumbles of punctuation marks (e.g. "Oh, $@"£&!").
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

- Pubs found throughout the game. Bar, "Tifa's Seventh Heaven," is run by one of the game's playable characters. The main character can (optionally) drink at one of these bars.
- Alcohol is mentioned throughout the game as the town characters talk about beer, wine, cocktails, booze.
- The 6 Turtle Paradise flyers advertises alcohol in the poster around the world.
- Ashtrays are seen on tables a few times in the game, with cigarette butts in them in places like the Junon Bar.
- One character, Cid, is a chain-smoker and is always seen with a cigarette in his mouth. One of his special moves is lighting a stick of dynamite with the end of his cigarette.
- A man at the Crane machine at the Gold Saucer Arcade room says "Crap! No Cigar."
- Cait Sith can be seen using his slot machine to attack monsters with his gamble attack.
- The player can choose to gamble and place bets for a Chocobo at the Chocobo racing in Golden Saucer.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- This game is considered to be a dark and gritty themed Final Fantasy game.
- This game is very emotionally attaching and at times can be extremely intense, upsetting and frightening to some. It is not recommended to very young players.
- The music soundtrack by Nobuo Uematsu is known for the scary music themes.
- The bombings at 2 of the the Mako Reactors may upset those sensitive to bombing and terrorism.
- The motorcycle car chase scene with Cloud attacking the Shinra Solders with his sword causing them to crash can be intense.
- A scene with the town of Nibelheim on fire can be seen.
- A scene with the Corel Town on fire can be seen.
- In the Gold Saucer Haunted Hotel area. There are spooky monsters, ghost and even puppets getting hanged may be frightening for little kids.
- A scene with the Weapon monsters being released from the Northern Crater may be too scary for children.
- An earthquake happens in Mideel, Tifa and Cloud fall in the cracks while trying to escape.
- While summoning Hades, he is seen laughing and using his black cauldron may be too dark, devilish and scary for children.
- If Cid fails to stop the train, then the train will crash into the North Corel town.
- The scene with the space rocket crashing into the meteor and repairing itself may be scary.
- Some of the creatures and events can be very disturbing, even for adult players.

- Barret's friends Wedge falls from the support pillar to his death, Biggs and Jessie also dies.
- At Shinra Headquarters, President Shinras dead body is seen stabbed by Sephiroth.
- Barrett's friend Dyne can be seen committing suicide at the Corel Prison.
- Palmer gets run over by a truck at Rocket Town.
- Cloud beats up Aeris at the Temple of the Ancients after losing control of himself.
- Aeris gets stabbed by Sephiroths sword at The Forgotten City and dies.
- Scarlet slaps Tifas face and Tifa slaps her back on top of Junon Cannon.
- Clouds friend Zack gets shot to death by Shinra Soldiers.
- A giant dragon-like monster Diamond Weapon is hit with a laser beam that goes right through it, and a huge bloody hole is ripped through its body. But Diamond Weapon counterattacks and fires directly at Rufus office and Rufus is caught in the explosion.
- A villain Sephiroth is seen covered in blood after being defeated.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- Aerith's death is very sad and depressing.
- When Diamond weapon attacks the Shinra headquarter building in Midgar. Rufus can be seen getting caught in the explosion, although Rufus survives the attack in the Final Fantasy 7 sequel.
- The city of Midgar is attacked by fire whirlwinds while the meteor is coming down as it heads dangerously close to crashing.
