Channel Islands have evacuated British troops. Tom Benson intends to join the navy but his son Terry will stay with the Delamere children, Cliff and Carol. Finding a radio to send messages about German troops but Major Wolf discovers it.
Major Wolf finds the children cap gun but misses the radio. Tom Benson makes night time plans to sail for England. Cliff Delamere learns the Germans are planning a curfew so children need to get to Tom at the cliff and to help him escape.
Major Wolf discovers the radio and destroys it. Terry has orders to wait near the cliffs. A parachute drops and they find a new radio and new orders. The British don't realise they are sending message to kids. Terry is arrest after curfew.
Carol Delamere is arrested and released. Terry learns Hugh, a British Inteligence officer is arriving but he is shocked they are children. Mr. Prout, a suspected collaborator, arrives the just has Hugh is making himself home at the house.
Mr. Prout proves he is not a spy. He and Hugh team up but the children fear they are now surplus. Major Wolf is livid at the V For Victory signs on the island. Cliff finds a way into the German headquarters and sees Mr. Rowley is the spy.
Major Wolf knows Cliff made V for Victory signs. The Delamare children are put under house arrest prior to a military trial. The ammunition has secretly been moved to the mill. Prout and Hugh are unaware and continue with their plan.
Major Wolf discovers Lander let slip where the ammunition is stored. Lander is sentenced to be shot and the children deported to France. A secret passage enables an escape but they have to stop Hugh and Prout blowing up the wrong target.
