Absurd comedy that gets hilarious by repeating
Shaolin_Apu2 January 2006
'Vintiöt' (Rascals) is a phenomenon created by a group of young Finnish actors. There never was a script but the creators had some ideas and some archetype characters that made our lives difficult. When 'Vintiöt' was broadcast for the first time almost no one loved it. Because the show was a relatively easy watching, people did not dismiss it completely. By time the characters and the catch-phrases of the 'Vintiöt' started to live their own life.

'Vintiöt - Ten Years After' was welcomed and when the older sketch material was recast it had became obvious, that the people had taken the characters 'Vintiöt' as their own boys. Each one of the actors had grown older and their acting had hugely improved. There was nothing like a script this time either, but everything worked correctly and the result was a hilarious television show. Some of the older characters were dumped and new ones were created but this all was to improve the show and with it the whole genre of Finnish absurd comedy. What we are all waiting now is the second reunion of the 'Vintiöt' after another ten years.
