Great Fun
hans-bremset-121 September 2006
This is not the most thrilling, interesting Norwegian movie from the bad 80ies but i'll give it an 8 because of the great Hans Rotmo. Great actor? No way, he is definitely a mediocre actor but he is an outstanding Norwegian songwriter, and he has dozens of recordings released in Norway from the 70ies until now. In this film he Preforms his "Tyskerstev" (A hilarious tale of German History, particularly from their WW-history) The music in this film is also made by the famous Hans Rotmo, the main theme is a track called: "Fred, frihet og alt gratis."(Peace, freedom and everything for free) A great tune. The main track was also released as a 7" single and is regarded as a true gem at record-fairs and second-hand shops. The film itself is a bit of a cross between "Deliverance" and "Southern comfort" if you take away the violent parts in those movies. The story centers around the Norwegian military army who has a conflict with a group of locals. It has political undertones( Every Norwegian film from this area has political undertones..........) The dialouge in this film is not very good, dialouge in Norwegian films from this area is as always almost annoying. The film is shot in very beautiful Norwegian landscape, gorgeous mountains, rivers and plenty of giant trees, almost overwhelming. The director Hans Otto Nicolaysen has directed several Norwegian films. He is most known in his native Norway for the 1986 picture "Plastposen" starring Jon Skolmen and Sverre Anker Ousdal. One of Norwys most famous directors, Nils Gaup("Veiviseren", "Haakon Haakonsson", "Hodet over vannet") has an acting role in this film. You should see it, watch out for a DVD-release possibly in the future.
