- As reported by E! Online on December 2000, sex scene between Luis and Julia was originally 20 minutes long, but was heavily edited before being put into film, due to original scene being too much like soft-core porn.
- Theatrical version is heavily censored to secure an "R" rating rather then an "NC-17". The unrated version available on home media contains much more explicit sex scenes.
- There are three versions available. There is increasing nudity and graphic sex as the length increases. The runtimes are: "1h 56m (116 min), 1h 58m (118 min) (unrated) (United States)" and "2h 18m(138 min) (original)".
- Approximately 4 minutes of sexually explicit material has been cut from cable showings, even on the late-night showings on non-commercial premium cable channels. Both R-rated and Unrated editions have been released on Region 1 DVD. The original theatrical release did contain explicit sex scenes, but as currently shown on cable, every time someone is about to go to bed with someone else, the scene fades out and returns to the same locale the next morning. In the original version, Julia's first sexual encounter with Luis is graphically shown, as is their encounter when he finds her in the hotel.
