Tell It To A Policeman is a fun and very silly early comedy from Hal Roach. Glenn Tryon plays a young man who is hopelessly in love with beautiful Blanche Mehaffey. Unfortunately Blanche loves uniforms and she has a crush on a local policeman (James Finlayson). To impress Blanche Glenn decides to join the police force. Despite his best efforts everything seems to go wrong for him which leads to some silly sight gags - paper gets stuck to his shoes, a sign get stuck to his back, and he slips and falls trying to catch some criminals. Then he runs into lovely Olive Borden on the street. Glenn tries to help her with a baby carriage unaware that she is actually a female bank robber. Despite his clumsiness Glenn manages to catch the group of bank robbers and is promoted to Sargent. In the final scene he orders his love rival Finlayson to direct traffic and walks away happily with Blanche.
I recommend watching this movie to see the wonderful Olive Borden in one of her first movies. She was such a talented actress and I hope more fans will discover her. Tell It To A Policeman is not available on DVD but it has recently been uploaded to the Internet Archive.
