Apart from Miss Babs (Celia Imrie) and Mrs. Overall (Dame Julie Walters) the only other two people to appear in every episode were the extras, the antiques shop customers played by Albert Welch and Michaela Welch.
Dame Julie Walters has frequently cited that Mrs. Overall remains her favorite character of all time.
The soap was part of Victoria Wood: As Seen on TV (1985), and each episode of Acorn Antiques was introduced by Susie Blake.
The series was turned into a West End musical in 2005, and after completing a sell out run, was renewed for 2007.
Towards the end of the series, an opening title sequence was used which included Miss Babs (Celia Imrie) driving up to the shop in the Acorn Antiques van.
