With her husband awaiting his release from prison, a woman by the name of "Kanae Fujinami" (Shima Iwashita) assumes control of a yakuza clan due to the recent death of its founder. And although she does an outstanding job as the boss of this group, she is only too happy to turn the reins over to her husband once he is released. Unfortunately, not long after being released, he is assassinated--and this leads to a power struggle between Kanae's impetuous son "Naoya Fujinami" (Masahiro Takashima) and an experienced lieutenant who will stop at nothing to get control of the Fujinami organization. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that, although this is the 5th film in the Yakuza Ladies franchise, it really isn't necessary to watch any of the previous movies as they have very little relationship to one another. On that note, however, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Shima Iwashita starred as the main character in this movie as she had performed in such an excellent manner in the 1st and 4th films of this series. Likewise, I should also mention that this picture also includes the attractive actress "Rino Katase" (as the yakuza attorney "Misako Kirishima") who has appeared in all five of these films to date. Yet despite the presence of Shima Iwashita, this film wasn't quite as good as either of her previous two films due to the general lack of both action and suspense. Make no mistake, however, I still enjoyed the film to a certain extent, and I have rated it accordingly. Slightly above average.
