'Kaufman, Andy' had to fight with the censors to allow him to run fake static on the screen during the "Chubby Rosalie" skit because they thought viewers would become frustrated and change the channel.
This program was shelved by the ABC for two years because they thought viewers wouldn't understand it.
There are several more skits in the uncut version including an appearance by Tony Clifton and a song and dance routine with Little Wendy.
Originally taped on 15 July 1977 but not aired on American Broadcasting Company (ABC) [us] before 1979.
Originally Cindy Williams was going to recite a monologue from Edward Albee's Zoo story (1980) before pretending to stab Andy to death with a knife, but the plan was eventually dropped in favor of her singing "Mack the Knife" instead.
