Is That a Metaphor?
boblipton2 June 2022
Marjorie Beebe and Nick Stuart are engaged for about a third of this movie, since she is jealous an keeps giving him back his ring. Finally she goes on a zeppelin party, where Edward Earle proposes. Will Jimmy object?

Producer-director Mack Sennett had a thing for zeppelins, at least back to MOLLY O (1921), and there are some good thrill shots, albeit at very long distance. Also Daphne Pollard as a perpetually sozzled lady, and Vernon Dent as a German headwaiter in a Chinese restaurant. Or possibly Barney Hellum as a Chinese waiter in a German restaurant.

Bebe's character is rather tiresome.

I've seen several Marjorie Beebe shorts that she made for Mack Sennett and I must say this is the least enjoyable one to watch. Beebe's character is simply annoying and you wonder why two men want to marry her!

When the story begins, Jimmy (Nick Stewart) and Marge (Marjorie Beebe) are deeply in love. But soon you see that Marge isn't wound very tight and she begins to accuse Jimmy of cheating with other women. This happens again and again and it certainly is NOT endearing. To top it off, she also whines quite a bit and is not the sort of woman ANY man would want....yet in addition to Jimmy, a rich cad who owns a Zeppelin* also wants her and uses her jealousy to break up her relationship with Jimmy. All this culminates at a party held on the cad's airship.

As I already said, Beebe's character is incredibly annoying and it's hard to imagine ANY man wanting a piece of that! Additionally, the film just isn't very funny...a bad combination

*It really doesn't matter, but the airship is NOT a Zeppelin. A 1930s era Zeppelin was a rigid airship with a metal structure within. The airship is instead a blimp...much like the ones Goodyear used during this era.
