A very good western.

This feature is one of the good surprises Lesley Selander gave us in the late fifties and early sixties, before his very lasts, starring old actors such as Dana Andrews, John Ireland, Yvonne De Carlo, Richard Arlen, Brian Donlevy, Lon Chaney Jr and many Hollywood old timers; films all released by Paramount Pictures.

But back to WAR PARTY, it's a very good little actioner, with few characters, telling the story of a group of soldiers led by a cavalry scout and a sergeant - Don Red Barry - and who try to escape from a bunch of comanches. All the movie was made outdoors, in real settings, in the sierras. No length in this feature. The characters are well shown, but not too much; it's a B western, after all. It's in the same rate as REVOLT AT FORT LARAMIE or FORT YUMA. But at a lesser scale than TALL MAN RIDING, SHOTGUN or YELLOW TOMAHAWK.

You can get it, if you can. I recommend this B western.
