Actress Kalpana stated that when the film started it was titled "Mujhe Pyaar Ka Nasha Hain". Manoj son Vishal was born and instead of concentrating on his new family, he kept saying I Love you,I Love You to her. He would keep insisting they meet alone somewhere. Kalpana threatened him saying she would go tell his wife Shashi. Manoj immediately went and told his wife another story and had Kalpana removed from the film. The was delayed over this. Knowing that Kalpana could take legal action over this,the president of the Artiste Association gave a clever plan to Manoj Kumar. They suggested they change the title to Production no 2, then finally Do Badan. This was they could say the film Kalpana was dropped from got shelved. Finally Asha Parekh was signed as her replacement.
The film was Heer Ranjha in a modern setting. Raj Khosla challenged Manoj Kumar to play the character of a blind man without the gestures and mannerism that actors usually used.
This film was first offered to Sadhna ji, but she left the film because of her marriage.
Affter watching Dilip Kumar's Deedar 1951 in re run along with Raj Khosla.They re worked on the script of Deedar and made this film.
There were stories of Manoj Kumar having Kalpana thrown out of the film due to some previous problems. Manoj denied the allegation.
