Edit
  • The most important skills to develop are making fire and swimming/underwater diving. The best resource you can use is to watch the hours of previous seasons of the show and observe what worked and didn't. Read a full preparation guide here. Edit

  • The crew members always have a first aid kit standing by to treat minor injuries that may arise with conventional bandages, gauze, alcohol wipes, and liquid bandages. If the injury/illness is considered severe, the contestant will be removed from the game and given treatment.

What constitutes being severe enough to be removed from the game? Here is the rule (according to Jeff Probst): "If you are able to be treated right there either at the challenge or in your camp to the producers satisfaction, you will remain in the game. If the illness/injury warrants us bringing you into Command Central to treat you, if you need to be provided with food in order to be well enough to continue, or you need outside medical attention such as stitches you will be removed from the game in order to receive the attention you need. We will make every effort to ensure that you remain in the game; however we must put your safety and well-being first."

Due to the fact that only a few contestants have left the game for medical reasons, it's probably safe to assume that the Survivor camp life isn't really that physically demanding. Edit

  • All contestants sign a nine-page contract before being subjected into the competition. These rules are not explicitly revealed on television, and they are to be followed by every Survivor contestant, or face expulsion with possible forfeiture of any prize money, and in some cases, incarceration.

On occasion, Jeff will shout at a contestant who is close to breaking a rule, and tell them not to do something, such as "No choking".

During season 8, Richard Hatch sexually harassed a female contestant during a challenge. Jeff Probst, however, did not notice this, and did not comment on this at the time. The production team didn't interfere with this either. It is unclear what happened to Hatch afterwards. Edit
