Porcupine Peterson, of Dawson, Alaska, is in New York with a surplus of green-backs and anxious to "do the town." He falls into the clutches of Helen, "The Mouse," and her wire-tapping gang and refuses to heed the warnings of Tommy Grant, who had previously earned his friendship. Tommy enlists the aid of his friend Detective Cadogan, and they set about the capture of the wire-tappers. Their plans are successful, but in the closing scenes it becomes necessary for Grant to slide down a painter's rope from a seventh story window to the ground in order to intercept the fleeing conspirators.
