Not the most gripping film ever, but I kept watching because the plot kept getting more and more intriguing. I was hoping the ending would solve the mystery, but they just left everything hanging! I suspect the script writer backed themselves into a corner and couldn't actually think of an ending that made sense of what was, essentially, nonsense. It's still a quaint old film if you want something to keep you company on a rainy afternoon.
