Every girl should see this film
If this is the documentary that I believe it is, it should be replayed every year for girls everywhere. I never knew what women went through a hundred years ago and how it was regarding property rights, we had none, the right to inherit, etc. Basic things we take for granted now were unthinkable then. We have come a long way ladies, let's not lose it because we don't know our own history.
I was especially amazed to learn that wives could not, at one point, inherit a home for their husband. If he died before she did, she was out on her ear, working in a laundry or on her back unless the male relative who did inherit chose to take care of her. If the state inherited then she was out of luck. Women fighting for the right to vote were declared insane and committed to rape rooms. This film is so rich in history that you never learn in school and you seldom see in movies. I had no idea, I really didn't. I called my mom and thanked her.
