'Chathurmgam' literally meaning a chess - is a fine story of a young village man who wants to prove his innocence by return back the guy who every one believe that he murdered. J.D Thottan has beautifully portrayed this story of the triumph of the human spirit when pitted against seemingly insurmountable odds. The acting performance is superb and natural - from Prem Nazir and Pathmini Priyadarshini down to the extras. Paravoor G.Devarajan's evergreen music is haunting even today and never seems out of place in the whole movie.

Even in this 'Chathuramgam' of high technology, this movie retains a perennial charm that comes only from honest and impassioned film-making. But above all, it serves as a gentle reminder that the most intricate computer will always be the human brain, and that man is the greatest machine that will be ever made.
