Rule No. 8: “Never take anything for granted.”
CBS’ NCIS takes that to heart tonight at 8/7c, with a Christmas episode that reflects on one of the long-running drama’s recurring themes: Gibbs’ Rules.
“I wanted for a while to do an episode about Gibbs’ rules,” showrunner Gary Glasberg tells TVLine, “and Chris Waild, one of my writer-producers, had the clever idea of incorporating it into our Christmas show.”
The framing device, per Glasberg: “McGee (played by Sean Murray) is writing a letter to his father, sitting at the great, old typewriter that he writes his books on, sort of...

NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Christmas-themed winter finale was teeming with good cheer — in the final moments, at least, and after much anxiety for Callen.
The Case of the Week involved a thumbdrive loaded with stolen super-malware, which the team realizes had been hastily dropped inside a handbag belonging to Callen’s girlfriend Joelle, as the Santa-dressed thief made his escape.
Fearing the baddies might track down and come gunning for Jo, Callen kept a close eye on her. And though Kensi and Deeks were able to subdue one of the killers who eventually came a-knocking, two others stormed Joelle’s home,...

Toh! has the exclusive poster debut for director Fred Schepisi's upcoming romantic dramedy "Words and Pictures," starring Juliette Binoche as an art teacher rivaling Clive Owen's English teacher. She has rheumatoid arthritis, and he has a drinking problem. Here's the official synopsis: The film arrives May 23. A witty romantic drama, Words & Pictures stars the engaging duo of Juliette Binoche and Clive Owen working together on-screen for the first time. Prep school English teacher Jack Marcus (Owen) laments his students' obsession with social media and good grades rather than engaging with the power of the written word. A one-time literary star, Jack has not published in years filling his spare time with drink versus the art of language. He meets his match in Dina Delsanto (Binoche) — an abstract painter and new teacher on campus, who was once celebrated for her art. From the start, the two flirt and provoke each other with equal.

It's been awhile since Clive Owen had a big film, but the British actor has kept busy with some lower profile dramas that have hit the festival circuit over the years. In fact, at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, Owen could be seen in both Blood Ties (watch the trailer) and the upbeat romance Words & Pictures. Now the first trailer for the latter film has arrived, showing the former James Bond candidate falling for a feisty painter played by Juliette Binoche. Both seem to be playing American in this one, so that's somewhat interesting, but this looks like your average indie romantic comedy. Watch below! Here's the first trailer for Fred Schepisi's Words & Pictures from Yahoo: Prep school English teacher Jack Marcus (Clive Owen) laments his students' obsession with social media and good grades — as opposed to rigorous engagement with language. A one-time literary star, Jack has not published in years.

The film stars Switched at Birth stars Vanessa Marano and Max Lloyd-Jones, and The West Wing’s Timothy Busfield. Though Restless Virgins is based on an actual 2005 sex scandal at suburban Boston’s prestigious Milton Academy, and framed on the 2007 expose Restless Virgins: Love, Sex, and Survival at a New England Prep School, the film’s executive producer Michael Roiff told the Boston Globe that the script rejiggers the actual events enough to make this a fictional story. Following the massive preoccupation with the Mayan Apocalypse, this week's The Simpsons accomplished a kind of currency that most of the new episodes never achieve.
In "Homer Goes to Prep School," Homer becomes convinced that the end of the world is just around the corner. I must admit that after the countless Facebook posts, news articles and History Channel apocalyptic-themed-marathons in the last month, I found Homer's doomsday obsession quite amusing.
But it wasn't a perfect episode; the tempo was a bit slow and there didn't seem to be enough to Homer's storyline to carry the whole half-hour.
Tom Waits was the most entertaining as the gravelly-voiced leader of the Springfield preppers. His distinctive vocal stylings added the right amount of mania and (apparent) credibility to the character. In his serendipitous meeting with a disenfranchised Homer, his paranoia was infectious and Homer immediately began preparing for the end.

Welcome to Prep School. Here we’ll guide film fans towards those important movies of the past that’ll help you to get the best out of any future cinematic releases that might benefit from a bit of extra knowledge. This time, it’s Quentin Tarantino‘s upcoming spaghetti western Django Unchained.
It’s well-known that Quentin Tarantino’s movies are greatly enhanced through the eyes of a dedicated cinephile. Not to say that your average audience member can’t enjoy his movies greatly, but the Tennessee-born director’s flicks are made for movie geeks by the world’s biggest movie geek. Really, they’re just vibrantly-written, densely-realised pastiches. Homage-clad exercises in genre deconstruction. And for somebody familiar with all the puzzle pieces that Tarantino assembles his movies from, sitting in a theatre for the runtime can become a deeply rewarding experience on a whole new level. Exclusive: Lifetime has greenlighted Restless Virgins, an original movie which has cast Switched At Birth star Vanessa Marano and former Desperate Housewives co-star Charlie Carver as two of the leads. The film is inspired by Abigail Jones and Marissa Miley’s book Restless Virgins: Love, Sex And Survival In Prep School, an account of the sex scandal, which rocked venerable Massachusetts prep school Milton Academy during the 2004-05 school year. The movie depicts a world where privileged teens run wild at a New England prep school, thriving on exploitation and manipulation, culminating in a sex controversy. Gilmore Girls alumna Marano will play a scholarship student and the editor of the school newspaper who exposes a sex tape made by the senior hockey players that blows the lid off the controversy. Carver will play one of the students embroiled in the scandal — a wealthy and calculating senator’s son. Jason Lapeyre...

Congratulations to my favorite cantankerous old coot Congressman, Barney Frank, who wed Jim Ready over the weekend in Newton, Ma. My quest for hidden gems in the freaky-deaky music wilderness has turned up another curiosity: I stumbled across Chicago-based act The Prep School Tragedy by pure chance, when they toured with awesome gothic electro-pop unit The Birthday Massacre... which is also the same route I discovered horror rockers Creature Feature, another long-time FEARnet fave. I wanted to see which side of the musical fence this crazed electro-pop-rap-industrial-metal troupe falls on, and now that I've heard and seen them in action... well, I still can't answer that one. But I can tell you that they're serious fun, and much like last week's lucky find The Deadites, they jumble up genres in completely demented ways, cramming pop, techno, metal,...

The story tightens as the plot thickens in “What Went Wrong,” an episode where Peter and Will separately unveil their inner mafiosi while Alicia continues her bizarre sexual guilt trip but almost makes up with Kalinda (seriously—how can she really forgive a friend who slept with her husband?) and finally finds a (surprising) new pal.
Alicia is daydreaming in court (as, frankly, we tend to do whenever the show heads there) when she gets a call from the headmistress at Capstone Prep School.

A Db floats in a boat in Central Park. Martha (Susan Sullivan) is going to teach an Introduction to Life Coaching Class and she's made cards, quoting Castle (Nathan Fillion) as a client. She's had experience with him since she's told him what to do his whole life. (Well almost his entire life.) Alexis (Molly C Quinn) wants Castle to chaperon on her Washington DC trip. The Db in the park was Donny (Drew Van Acker) and attended Redding Prep. Castle says he also attended Prep school. I Love to see Channing Tatum in comedic roles! He was hilarious in the Ron Howard-directed comedy ‘The Dilemma‘ with Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, and based on what I saw on my recent set visit, fans are going to really get a kick out Chan and Jonah Hill in their comedy ‘21 Jump Street‘ when it hits theaters next March.

All aboard for the Kate Middleton Country Tour: The inaugural trip kicked off Sunday bound for the princess-in-waiting's home town of Bucklebury, featuring the font she was baptized in, her grade schools, village homes and even the pub where she and Prince William have been spotting drinking. The host for this trip, set up by local tour operator Morton's Travel, is Charmian Griffiths, who has her Blue Badge Guide qualifications and 10 years of guiding experience. Addressing the 23 gathered journalists and nine, mostly elderly, day trippers, Griffiths holds up a picture. "The lovely couple," she announces, and off the tour speeds - for just £10 a seat.

Here’s what the movie is all about…
A simple case of assumed identity snowballs into a romantic mix-up of epic proportions in director Andy Fickman’s contemporary teen take on William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.
Viola Hastings (Amanda Bynes) has good reason for wanting to conceal her identity upon arriving at Illyria Prep school, and with her twin brother Sebastian (James Kirk) skirting school in an attempt to break into the London music scene, Viola sees her sibling’s well-timed absence as the...

Title: Beware The Gonzo Directed By: Bryan Goluboff Starring: Ezra Miller, Jesse McCartney, Zoe Kravitz, Griffin Newman, Edward Gelbinovich, Stefanie Y. Hong, Amy Sedaris, Campbell Scott, James Urbaniak It’s characters like Gonzo Gilman that make you wonder if you accomplished anything that great in high school. Yes, good grades and a slew of extracurricular activities get you into college, but what about the things that make a difference and make a lasting impact? High school administrators are lucky Beware The Gonzo is only a movie, otherwise there’s a good chance the education system would come crumbling down. Eddie ‘Gonzo’ Gilman (Ezra Miller) is certainly not the popular kid at Parker Prep School. Not only [...]...

For longtime co-directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, having all their ducks in a row for their fourth feature film means great source material, the acclaimed 1998 comic novel “The Extra Man”, the best co-writer for the job, “Extra Man” author Jonathan Ames and a splashy cast featuring vet Kevin Kline and young talent Paul Dano and Katie Holmes. Yet, aside from short bursts of comic sparkle thanks to supporting players John C. Much of the problem rests on Paul Dano who’s terribly miscast as the film’s screwball leading man Louis Ives. Out of all the high-profile films debuting in the Premieres section of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival,...

Lest you think that product placement is limited to big-budget, big-star movies, be assured that independent filmmakers are not entirely adverse to the idea of exchanging screen time for financial or promotional support. Crooked Arrows, an independent sports film scheduled to begin production this spring, will be exclusively sponsored by Reebok, according to AdAge.com. Reebok will use the film as a springboard to promote its lines of lacrosse equipment and apparel. Owing to the early involvement of Reebok, the filmmakers have been able to "secure [the] bulk of their financing, and also guarantees distribution for a nationwide release of at least 250 theaters in 2011."
The official site for Crooked Arrows makes comparisons to "heroic team sports movies," such as Bad News Bears, Hoosiers, Mighty Ducks, and Miracle. The story follows a mixed-blood Native American who becomes the coach of his reservation's high school lacrosse team, competing against "the better equipped and...

In just a few years, Justin Bieber has gone from being a YouTube sensation to one of the hottest young stars of 2009. The Canadian singer got his first taste of fame when he posted his own rendition of Chris Brown's "With You," which impressed Brown so much that he called the young Bieber to congratule him on his YouTube success. Fast forward to October 2008, Bieber was personally flown down to perform in front of Usher who was then immediately signed to Island Records. The singer has not stopped since being signed and is currently out promoting his new album My World that debuted on November 17th. The Beatles would be jealous of the fans that come out to support Justin in person and online. The fall of 2009 has been great for Justin; he has accumulated over a million dedicated Twitter followers, shutting down malls due to over crowdedness, and is...
