Fun to watch but shallow clip collection
Eegah Guy6 April 2001
Lots of nostalgic film clips make up this breezy but shallow look at the history of rock music in movies. One host handles each decade from the 50s through the 90s with nothing really new to say to anyone who's a rock music or cinema fan. Another fun slice of VH1 programming that could have covered a wider variety of rock in film.

One of the best ABC Afterschool Specials
tennisluver19807 March 2004
I remember watching this back in '91. I rarely watched ABC afterschool specials, but decided to tune in when I learned William McNamara was in it (whatever happened to him?). It was about this band that wanted to hit it big. McNamara played the guitar,Matt McGrath played drums, and the lead singer was played by Alison Bartlett (who at the time played Gina on Sesame Street,I recognized her right away because when I would babysit my little brother he always wanted to watch Sesame Street). Anyway,a sleazy manager (played by Davy Jones)tells them they need to spice up their act,if they want to get anywhere. So,Bartlett performs this really sexy song and dance in her bra (I wonder what Big Bird would have thought if he saw that? LOL!!!),the mayor of the town finds out about it and tries to have the band arrested. That's all I remember of this,I really liked it. If ABC ever decides to put their afterschool specials on dvd,I would buy this one.
